The editor is the software we use to implement content into the game. And then “what character do our players want to see more of?”, and so on and so forth… I also played the game a lot and talked to our other designers to make sure that what I made would fit the tone of the game and resonate with you, the players! For me, since I want to learn as much about the game mechanics as possible, the first question I asked was “what can I do that touches upon many aspects of the game, but still feels fun?”. The question varies and can be everything from “how do we make this race more interesting?” to “what should the focus of this festival be?”. Also make sure to do the above tips and practice, don’t take it too seriously & watch shortcut videos.Every designer has a different approach as to how they come up with, and make, content, but I usually start with a question. If you’re a higher level and are usually placed into group 1 with the ‘pro’ racers, my only advice is to make sure your riding is the max you can get it to & your swiftness is the highest as well.If levelling up isn’t an option or you need a quicker alternative, use a website such as Star Stable Database to find the best tack & clothing available for your level. Because you will usually see a message such as ‘you need to be level 14/15 to buy this item!’, honestly my only advice is to try to level up faster by completing your dailies (if you have the reputation crunching quests) or do all the quests on your log. If you’re a lower level, it’s usually a little harder to get good quality tack & clothing. If you’re determined to get better, practice practice practice. You’re never going to beat your personal best or come 3rd, 2nd or 1st if you never practice races. There are plenty of SSO racers that make helpful shortcut videos, so when you enter the championship you have a lot more knowledge on where to go & where the shortcuts are. If you’re determined to improve on your racing skills, the best thing you can do is watch shortcuts or other people doing the race on Youtube.Who cares if you came 15th in Silverglade Championship or didn’t beat your high score, you can try again next time. Honestly, if you enter a race with a neutral mindset and just focus, whatever result you achieve will seem more okay to you. Remember that championships are just part of a game, so don’t take it too seriously.Nobody likes a sore loser or winner, most players tend to be unforgiving when it comes to how you react if you win/lose, so gloating excessively or whining/blaming people for your losing is just going to result in you and a mob of angry players. Don’t expect to win with no experience just because your horse is level 15! All the horses work differently, a pony isn’t going to race the same as a Quarter. Also, practice makes perfect, and as you train your horse all the way to level 15, you can pick up shortcuts, make mistakes and learn from them. Not every horse is a race horse, but you need to know what it is good at, they could be very agile or good at jumping, etc. Before you can win a championship you have to know the track, it’s shortcuts and make sure you can jump well and you know your horse’s ups and downs. To be good at Championships and races, we all have to practice.
